Our friend Aaron opened his first home gardening store called “BRONX HYDRO & GARDEN” in the Bronx last year. It’s located by the Major Deedgan express way to FDR, right on the edge of Manhattan and the Bronx where many antique furniture stores (warehouse) and trendy but laid back cafes are.
Especially nowadays that people are aware of organic food, slow food, and of course other natural resource to cure sickness and relax, it’s a perfect place to go to start the healthy life in the city!
They offer classes to teach you how you can grow the plants etc.
His second store will be opened in Brooklyn soon.
友達のアーロンが昨年ブロンクスに”BRONX HYDRO & GARDEN” というガーデニングの店をオープンした。ブロンクスからマンハッタンのFDR（フリーウェイ）に入るつなぎの道のところで、大分前からアンティークの家具屋があったりお洒落だけど堅苦しくない素敵なカフェがあるいい立地。
特にオーガニックやスローフード、そして勿論病気の為やリラックするできる自然なものを栽培することに人々が目覚めた昨今、このお店は大繁盛。
週何回かガーデニングのクラスも実施していておもしろそう。
２つ目の御店が近々ブルックリンにできる予定。

I went to this new hotel on crosby street ( between spring and prince street) in soho for afternoon tea at the cafe restaurant they have on the first floor.
From the moment I stepped into the entrance, I fell in love.
It’s almost like a small museum.
All interior the design and art is so diverse, yet matches together in the same atmosphere.
Downstairs, they have a nice size theater (almost the same size as an Angelica theater) with gorgeous orange leather seats.
The afternoon tea at the restaurant was a traditional british afternoon tea style with three layers of plates with sandwiches and scones.
Their cocktail menu is also worth to try out!
We had a chat with one of the nice staff and she told us each room is decorated different.
The owner is british and his wife does the art direction for the entire hotel. sounds sweet!
If you haven’t been there, you must!!!

I spent the last coupe of days at the end of the year in San Diego.
When we arrived there the first thing we saw was the bay, which is soooo “TOP GUN”.
Yes, I remember there was a pretty long scene where Tom Cruise was touring with his motorbike along side the shore as if it’s his promotion video and I watched it without thinking how cheesy it is at that time…
Well, this time, I enjoyed the Californian sun at the beach (Coronado island), big brunch in the pretty town of La Jolla, Old Town (although I had the WORST MEXICAN FOOD there, which Rachel Ray recommended), Gas Lamp district in downtown San Diego etc.
La Jolla was especially very pretty and I’d like to visit there for the summer some day.
年末の数日間はサン・ディエゴに行ってきました。
着いたとたんの感想は、まさに映画「トップ・ガン」。（実際に映画が撮影された場所）
トム・クルーズがあたかも彼のプロモーション・ビデオかのように湾岸沿いをバイクで走る長〜いシーンを恥ずかしげもなくみとれていた無垢な自分を思い出しました。
今回はビーチ（コロナド・ビーチ）でカリフォルニアの太陽、ラ・ホイヤでのブランチ、オールドタウン(フードチャンネルのスター、レイチェル・レイのおすすめのレストランで史上最悪のメキシカンを食べたけど）、ダウンタウンのガス・ランプエリアのバーなどを楽しみました。
特にラ・ホイヤはとっても可愛いビーチタウンで、いつか夏中バケーションで過ごしたいくらいの良いところ。

I don’t know why they don’t open their branches on the East coast.
When I first had “IN-N-OUT BURGER”, it was revolutionary & shocking.
Since then, every time I visit the west coast, first thing I like to do is to go there and have their animal style (it’s not on the menu but everyone knows) burger with fries and root beer.
On the way to San Diego from Phoenix for the new years we stopped in the little town of “Yuma” just because we found IN-N-OUT.
YUMMY~!!!
I recommend someone to open a branch in Japan, and I guarantee he/she will be successful.
なんでこのファーストフード店が東海岸にオープンしてくれないのだー！
はじめて”イン・アンド・アウト バーガー”で食べた時のハンバーガー革命のショックは忘れられません。それ以来西海岸に行くとまずしたいことは、インアンドアウトに行ってアニマルスタイル（ソテーしたタマネギに特製タルタルソースが入ったもの。ポテトにものせてくれる）のバーガーにフレンチフライとルートビールのセットを堪能すること。
年末、アリゾナのフェニックスからサンディエゴに行く途中の小さな町”ユマ”で看板を目にしたとたん”ここで休もう！”と即決。
最高にウマ〜い！！！
日本にこのビジネスをもっていったら必ず成功すること間違いなしですよー

One of fun things to do right after thanksgiving day is to search for cute x’mas cards. This year, I found custom made cards by “Seltzer” based in New York City, using 100% post-consumer recycled paper. All Seltzer paper products are printed using veggie-based inks as well. Greeting cards goes not only a cute design but also eco friendly!
サンクスギビングの直後に始まるクリスマスカード探しは年末の楽しみのひとつ。町中の店が一斉にカードを売り始め、どれにしようかいつも迷ってしまいます。２００９年のカードはイーストビレッジのはずれでふと入った雑貨屋さんで目についたSelzer 社（ニューヨーク）のリサイクルペーパーを使用したカード。インクもベジタブルからとった自然のもの。デザインもクリームのテーマにあったNYインスパイヤーのグラフィックで、可愛いだけじゃなく、環境にもやさしいカードでダブルで嬉しい出会いでした。
