A good friend of mine sent me these books as a gift for my daughter’s birth.
I always thought “Vegan food” is the kind of food I would not wanna eat even when I’m hungry, but these books totally changed my mind.
I tried some of the recipes from these books and ate them for my breast milk to be even better quality (I do the best I can for my little angel).
Then I found out they not only worked for milk, but also how tasty they are.
Amazing books.
Running my own company, I was not quite sure how long I should have taken my maternity leave. Even though we’ve been working I have personally taken a step back.
After taking a few months off I found it more natural for me to get back to work when I am comfortable enough to think about business beside my angel.
I’m looking forward to have you back as a reader of this blog again!
今回初めての出産にあたってどれくらい産休をとっていいのか迷った。
クリームは活動していたが、個人的には大分お休みさせて頂いた今、やっと余裕がでてきたので自然に
仕事に戻る意欲が湧いてきた。

Our friend Aaron opened his first home gardening store called “BRONX HYDRO & GARDEN” in the Bronx last year. It’s located by the Major Deedgan express way to FDR, right on the edge of Manhattan and the Bronx where many antique furniture stores (warehouse) and trendy but laid back cafes are.
Especially nowadays that people are aware of organic food, slow food, and of course other natural resource to cure sickness and relax, it’s a perfect place to go to start the healthy life in the city!
They offer classes to teach you how you can grow the plants etc.
His second store will be opened in Brooklyn soon.
友達のアーロンが昨年ブロンクスに”BRONX HYDRO & GARDEN” というガーデニングの店をオープンした。ブロンクスからマンハッタンのFDR（フリーウェイ）に入るつなぎの道のところで、大分前からアンティークの家具屋があったりお洒落だけど堅苦しくない素敵なカフェがあるいい立地。
特にオーガニックやスローフード、そして勿論病気の為やリラックするできる自然なものを栽培することに人々が目覚めた昨今、このお店は大繁盛。
週何回かガーデニングのクラスも実施していておもしろそう。
２つ目の御店が近々ブルックリンにできる予定。

I went to this new hotel on crosby street ( between spring and prince street) in soho for afternoon tea at the cafe restaurant they have on the first floor.
From the moment I stepped into the entrance, I fell in love.
It’s almost like a small museum.
All interior the design and art is so diverse, yet matches together in the same atmosphere.
Downstairs, they have a nice size theater (almost the same size as an Angelica theater) with gorgeous orange leather seats.
The afternoon tea at the restaurant was a traditional british afternoon tea style with three layers of plates with sandwiches and scones.
Their cocktail menu is also worth to try out!
We had a chat with one of the nice staff and she told us each room is decorated different.
The owner is british and his wife does the art direction for the entire hotel. sounds sweet!
If you haven’t been there, you must!!!

You’ve got to see Michael Moore’s latest movie “Capitalism: A Love Story”.
Capitalism used to be considered a wonderful method for people who work hard and smart that would be able to successful in this country following the “American Dream”. Now, as we can clearly see capitalism somehow changed into such an evil structure where the powerful rich, like banks, don’t get punished from their mistakes. He says 1% of wealthiest in America have more financial wealth than the bottom 99% combined. After observing for 20 years through film making he found the economic system unfair, injustice and not democratic and that’s the core problem of this country.
It’s hard to understand why it’s ok for companies to make money from the death of their employees (from life insurance) when their families get nothing or airline pilots to be making low wages so they have to work other jobs. At the same time the guy who worked for Bush as finance minister (Paulson) helped give billions of dollars for the main banks (where he used to work) when they needed help even though they caused the mortgage crisis and the people who can’t pay the mortgages are being kicked out from their house with no help. It is more complicated than these examples, but the point is that the system has become unfair and the film does a good job of showing how.
This is a love story to let people realize we must stand up and restructure this fucked up evil system for the future of our children and this country.
マイケル・ムーア監督の新作”キャピタリズム：ラブ・ストーリー”を是非見て下さい。
”キャピタリズム”は本来、賢く一生懸命働く人達はアメリカン・ドリームを実現できるという素晴らしいシステムでした。ところが現在は金持ちが権力を掲げ、例えば銀行は自分達の過ちも罰せられないシステムへと変貌してしまいました。ムーア氏は１％の金持ちはその下の９９％の人々の資産を足したものよりも多く所有していると言います。彼の２０年間に渡る映像作家活動を通して経済システムがいかに公平でなく不義で民主主義でなくなっているかがこの国の一番の問題になっていることを発見しました。
家族ではなく会社が生命保険で雇い主の死から大金を受け取るというとこと、有名航空会社のパイロットが最低賃金で働いてるため他にも仕事をもたないと生活できない状況などおかしなことが起きています。その反面、ブッシュ政権の際に経済省のトップだったポールソン氏はたくぎん抵当証券破綻を導いた大手銀行に莫大な資金を投資することを約束し、実際その被害を受けた家族からは家を奪っています。これらの例よりももっと複雑なバックグラウンドが絡まりあっているのではあるけれど、システムがいかに不平に作動していってるかをこのフィルムはとてもよく捉え、映し出していました。
この映画はまさに将来の子供達、そしてこの国の為に何がおかしなことになっているかを人々に気づかせそのことに立ち向かっていけるように導こうとする、愛情溢れるラブ・ストーリーなのでした。
We were lucky enough to see famed author and thinker Salman Rushdie perform with one of our favorite bands, dredg, this past Thursday in a benefit show for Housing Works. The bands latest album The Pariah, The Parrot and The Delusion was influenced in part by Rushdie’s Letter to the Sixth Billionth Citizen “Imagine There’s no Heaven”. Rushdie was originally asked to write a letter to the then soon to be born sixth billionth citizen by the United Nations in 1997. The members of dredg came across his essay as they were preparing their album and realized some of the thinking and ideas paralleled each other so the the art work and of course some of the lyrical content. The essay deals with themes regarding religion and its role in our society. Rushide says in his essay that religious practice and blind faith often lead to wars and misunderstanding. He feels that freedom “comes down to a willingness to think for yourself” and not being constrained by religion’s rules. Whatever your personal beliefs may be it is sure a thought provoking piece.
The two groups came together for the performance for a benefit that Spin magazine put together for Housing Works a non-profit bookstore that donates all of its profits to services that help people living with AIDS. Rushdie read a couple of his pieces, including the essay and dredg performed songs from their album. Everyone charmed the audience during the question and answer period and the evening ended with drinks at the Thom Bar at Thompson Hotel.
先日の木曜日ハウジングワークスへサーモン・ラシディー（作家）とクリームが大好きなバンド、ドレッジとのベネフィットショーに行ってきました。ドレッジの最新アルバム’The Pariah, The Parrot and The Delusion’はラシディー著 ’Letter to the Sixth Billionth Citizen ”Imagine There’s no Heaven”’から影響を受けているそうで今回のイベントの運びとなりました。ラシディー氏は１９９７年に国連よりこのエッセイをもうすぐ６０億人にたどりつくであろう人類にむけて書くように依頼されました。ドレッジのメンバーのひとりが彼らのアルバム作成時にこのエッセイを読んで自分達のつくってるもののテーマと歌詞に重なることを発見します。エッセイでは現代社会で宗教がどのような役目をなしてるかを説明しています。ラシディー氏は宗教の習慣と閉鎖的な信仰は戦争と誤解を導くだけで、自由とは自らの思考することを望むことであり、宗教によって縛られるものではないと言う。自分の思想が何であれ、このエッセイで氏の言う事に反映されることができるのです。
スピンマガジン主催でこの２組の共同パフォーマンスが実現しました。ハウジングワークスは本屋さんで、収入の全てはエイズ患者などへ寄付されます。ラシディー氏がエッセイを含む彼の作品をいつくか朗読し、その後ドレッジがアルバムからの曲を弾き語りしました。メンバー達（ラシディー氏を含め）は最後の質問コーナーで観客をさらに魅了し、その後はトンプソンホテルのトム・バーへと移動してイベントの成功を祝いました。素敵な夜でした。

My friend from Tokyo just sent me the photos he took from a Japanese TV show where Ms. Sahel Rose (Iranian actress in Japan) reported on one of the towns in Tokyo. She’s wearing cream of the crop from summer collection!
When I read her profile, it took my breath away.
Ms. Rose lost her entire family when Iran was bombed during the Iraq-Iran war when she was four years old. She was found under a destroyed building four days later and rescued by a 20-year-old journalist who later adopted her and became her mother. They decided to move to Japan to escape from the difficulty of living a free life in Iran, and followed her mother’s fiance (later he turned violent so they left him) . She experienced isolation from other Japanese kids, because of her different appearance and the accent she had. She realized one day after having a closed dark character for a long period that if she opens up herself to others they will feel her positive vibe. Since then she started following her dream to become an actress and now, she became one.
Especially when I imagined how hard it should be for her young mother to raise Ms. Rose under the circumstance of Iranian government I was very moved. She gave up her career as a journalist but never gave up her daughter even most of the people around her (her parents as well) were against her decision.
I feel very honored such a strong, beautiful woman like Sahel Rose is wearing cream. This encouraged me to create a better, stronger cream as a brand. Thank you Ms. Rose!
I, also as a wife of an Iranian, am always wishing Iran will become a better country for their own people.
東京の友達が先日放送されたテレビ番組でイラン人の女優、サヘル・ローズさんがクリームのTシャツを着てくれてる画像を撮って送ってくれました。
彼女のプロフィール (1) (2) を読んで思わず息をのみました。
サヘルさんはイラン・イラク戦争で両親を含むほぼ全ての家族を失い、４日後に瓦礫の下から発見され、２０歳そこそこのジャーナリストの女性に助けられました。のちにその女性が彼女を娘として引き取り、当時のイランでの母子家庭で子供を育てることの厳しさから日本に行っていたフィアンセを頼りにサヘルさんを連れて日本に来る事に決めました（のち、フィアンセが暴力的なのがわかり離れる）。日本に来てからのサヘルさんは容姿の違いや言葉の壁などでいじめにあい、閉鎖的な性格になってしまあいますが、高校生になって自分から心を開けば周りの人達にその気持ちが伝わることを知ります。そして幼い頃からの夢であった女優の道を目指し、現在その目標に達してがんばっています。
彼女のお母さんがイラン政府の元、そして見ず知らずの他国で彼女を育てるのにどんなに苦労を強いられたかを思うと息の詰まる思いがします。自らのジャーナリストとしての夢は諦めたけれど、周囲の強い反対にも関わらず（始めは両親も）決してサヘルさんのことを諦めることはしませんでした。
このことでクリームのブランドとしてよりよいものをつくり出す勇気をもらいました。サヘルさん、ありがとう！
そしてイラン人の夫をもつ嫁として、イランが国民にとってよりよい国になってくれることを私も常に心から願っています。

When I saw the commercial of new Snuggle laundry softener cream series, I just wanted to run straight to the drug store to buy them. Their package design is so cute!!! Each has “Sweet Almond” and “Jojoba” essence, which I guess makes the fabric creamy (soft) ?! When I came up with my brand name “cream”, I though about the fact that girls normally can’t live without cream ( body cream, face cream, creamy skin;) can this become one of cream’s favorite creamy products?!
柔軟剤で有名なスナグルの新しいライン、クリームラインのコマーシャルを見た瞬間、薬やさんに買いに行きたい衝動にかられました。このパッケージ、可愛いすぎ！！！ひとつはアーモンド、もうひとつはホホバオイルのエッセンス入りで、多分それが繊維をクリーミーに仕上げるということなのでしょう。私がクリームのブランド名”cream” を思いついたのも、女の子はボディークリームや、乳液などのクリームがないと生きていけないという意味も込めていたのですが、この商品もなくてはならないもののひとつになるかも？！

All summer I’ve heard people complaining about the weather not being warm enough, well today mother nature has given us more heat than necessary!…. it reached a high of 94 degrees, but felt like 100! Today i was lucky enough to find this cute ice cream parlor in the East Village, on 10th st btwn 3rd &4th ave called ‘Sundaes & Cones’. It was everything i needed, a cool quiet environment with delicious treats.
この夏あまりの涼しさに多くの人は文句をいってましたが、今日、ついに必要以上に暑くなってくれました！最高気温は３５度だったけれど実際４０度くらいに感じるほどの暑さでした。ラッキーなことにイーストヴィレッジの１０ストリートの３と４アヴェの間にある可愛らしい”Sundaes & Cones”というアイスクリーム屋さんを発見。暑い夏にはこれが一番。

I found this documentary from the site “tokyo mango” which introduces Japanese news and culture (it’s actually very interesting that I, as a Japanese, take a lot of her topics as normal, but if you don’t live there many things can be weird and strange). This elementary school located in Kanazawa in Ishikawa prefecture (where my dad’s from!) and the 57 years old teacher profiled definitely know how to educate kids.
I wish every one of us had a teacher like him. I picked the third chapter of especially because I was very moved by the kids who stood up for their friend and fought for their rights against the strong power.
Every time I go back to Japan I feel a lack of the “to make myself happy, others have to be happy”"try to understand others” spirit that their teacher instills in them. I hope those kids who grew up with such a beautiful mind can proudly keep up this mentality and spread it out all over the world.
TOKYO MANGOという主に日本のニュースやカルチャーを紹介しているブログ（日本に住んでいると当たり前のように聞き流してることがらを取り上げていて大変興味深いので是非チェックしてみてください）に掲載されていて発見したドキュメンタリーを紹介します。この小学校は石川県金沢にあって、登場する５７歳の先生は確実に子供の教育において一番大切なことを知っています。私達全てがこんな先生に教わってたらいいのに。５つで完結のこのドキュメンタリーの特に子供達が友達の為に先生に抗議する場面が出てくる３つ目をのせましたが、最初から全部観るこををおすすめします。日本に帰る度にこの”自分が幸せな気分になるには他の皆も幸せであるように””その為にもお互いを理解しあう”精神が欠けているような場面に出くわしたり、感じます。この素晴らしい精神を身につけた子供達が将来誇りをもって自分達の学んだことを世界中に広めていってくれることを心から願います。
