WATCH THIS!!!
My mother raised me with food delivered directly from a local farm. I used to hate my mom never letting me drink coke and eat chips.
After I watched this documentary I appreciate the way she chose to provide food to the family more than ever.
It’s super important to be aware of where the food you put into your body comes from.
私の母は農家から無農薬の野菜や高温で殺菌の必要のない牛乳などを直接取り寄せて私を育ててくれた。
コーラやポテトチップスを食べさせてくれなかったことに小さい頃凄く嫌な思いをした。
けれどこのドキュメンタリーを観て、その母にもの凄く感謝。
自分の身体に入る食べ物がどのようにしてどこからきてるのかを知る事はとっても大切なこと。

“WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE” Directed by Spike Jonze
I used to have this book when I was a child, and it wasn’t my favorite one. As a little kid the monsters were a little bit scary and I remember even dreaming about them a couple of times after my mom read it for me and my little sister, although I could tell the drawing was very original and beautiful. So, when I saw the trailer of this movie for the first time ( it was the beginning of June or something), I though “damn, spike jonze did it!” because I felt like those wild things have been left alone between other kid’s books in my room in Tokyo for a long period of time and someone pulled it out to give them breath finally.
After I saw this movie, I definitely realized there are many things you feel different about when time passes. I was still little bit scared by the monster but I appreciate the story instead of hating it.
原作本を子供の頃母が買ってくれて持っていたけれど、少々幼い頃の私には登場してくるモンスターが恐ろしかったのと、母が私と妹に読んでくれた後に夢にでてきたりしてあまり好きな本とは言えませんでした。ただ、画と本の構成が素晴らしく素敵で他とは違っているなとは感じていました。だから６月初旬あたりに初めてこの映画のトレーラーを観た時、「スパイク・ジョーンズ、やってくれましたね」という思いでした。というのは、あたかもスパイク・ジョーンズが私の部屋の本棚に隠れているこの１冊を発掘してモンスターに息を吹き込んだかのような気がしたから。
子供の頃に感じていたことが大人になってまた違った視点で観れるのが良いです。
You’ve got to see Michael Moore’s latest movie “Capitalism: A Love Story”.
Capitalism used to be considered a wonderful method for people who work hard and smart that would be able to successful in this country following the “American Dream”. Now, as we can clearly see capitalism somehow changed into such an evil structure where the powerful rich, like banks, don’t get punished from their mistakes. He says 1% of wealthiest in America have more financial wealth than the bottom 99% combined. After observing for 20 years through film making he found the economic system unfair, injustice and not democratic and that’s the core problem of this country.
It’s hard to understand why it’s ok for companies to make money from the death of their employees (from life insurance) when their families get nothing or airline pilots to be making low wages so they have to work other jobs. At the same time the guy who worked for Bush as finance minister (Paulson) helped give billions of dollars for the main banks (where he used to work) when they needed help even though they caused the mortgage crisis and the people who can’t pay the mortgages are being kicked out from their house with no help. It is more complicated than these examples, but the point is that the system has become unfair and the film does a good job of showing how.
This is a love story to let people realize we must stand up and restructure this fucked up evil system for the future of our children and this country.
マイケル・ムーア監督の新作”キャピタリズム：ラブ・ストーリー”を是非見て下さい。
”キャピタリズム”は本来、賢く一生懸命働く人達はアメリカン・ドリームを実現できるという素晴らしいシステムでした。ところが現在は金持ちが権力を掲げ、例えば銀行は自分達の過ちも罰せられないシステムへと変貌してしまいました。ムーア氏は１％の金持ちはその下の９９％の人々の資産を足したものよりも多く所有していると言います。彼の２０年間に渡る映像作家活動を通して経済システムがいかに公平でなく不義で民主主義でなくなっているかがこの国の一番の問題になっていることを発見しました。
家族ではなく会社が生命保険で雇い主の死から大金を受け取るというとこと、有名航空会社のパイロットが最低賃金で働いてるため他にも仕事をもたないと生活できない状況などおかしなことが起きています。その反面、ブッシュ政権の際に経済省のトップだったポールソン氏はたくぎん抵当証券破綻を導いた大手銀行に莫大な資金を投資することを約束し、実際その被害を受けた家族からは家を奪っています。これらの例よりももっと複雑なバックグラウンドが絡まりあっているのではあるけれど、システムがいかに不平に作動していってるかをこのフィルムはとてもよく捉え、映し出していました。
この映画はまさに将来の子供達、そしてこの国の為に何がおかしなことになっているかを人々に気づかせそのことに立ち向かっていけるように導こうとする、愛情溢れるラブ・ストーリーなのでした。
“District 9″. I’m not telling you anything, please just watch! Some say “sad”, some say “very different”, and I said “very funny”… What I can say is you will like it in some way.
「District 9」。何も言わずに観に行ってください！ある人は”悲しい”と、ある人は”今までにない”と、私は”おかしすぎ”でした。どちらにしろ見る価値アリです。

Hayao Miyazaki’s movie “ponyo” is in theater’s in NYC! I have never watched his movie in voice over (English version), but it was surprisingly good. The cast is made up of quite big stars such as Tina Fey, Liam Neeson and Kate Blanchett.
There were many kids watching with their parents in the theater and it was very heart warming every time they reacted to the movie.
宮崎駿監督の新作”ポンニョ”がNYでも上映されています。英語吹き替えで観るのは初めてでしたがなかなか口の動きもぴったりで違和感なく観れました。吹き替えキャストも豪華で、３０ロックのティナ・フェイ、ニアム・リアム・ニーソン、ケイト・ブランシェツトなどの面々。
会場は子供達が沢山いて、いちいち素直にリアクションするのがとっても可愛らしく心地よい雰囲気でした。

New Quentin Tarantino movie opened at the theater last Friday. The story is separated in several chapters (like “Kill Bill”) , and one of the main parts is about American Jewish soldiers coming to Nazi occupied France to kill as many Nazis as they can. The other part is about Jewish girl who escaped after Nazis found her family hiding under the floor of a French farmer’s house and killed them all. She found a big chance to kill the most important 4 nazi members, including Hitler, as her revenge. As with most of QT’s movies, there’s much violence, cruel scenes, and tricks behind conversations which makes you feel very nervous. I’m not going to give it away, so you’ll have to watch for yourself to see what happens.
The story is written by QT and of course it’s fiction, but I almost wish it really happened back in the days when I saw the scene of a Jewish soldier shooting like crazy trying to kill Adolf Hitler.
タランティーノ監督の新しい映画「イングローリアス・バスターズ」が金曜日にオープン。キル・ビルの時みたいにチャプターに別れた内容は２つのメインストーリーに区別できて、ひとつは米軍に所属するユダヤ人がナチスの配下にあったフランス領を訪れ、できるだけ多くのナチスを殺す目的で参上。もうひとつは、フランス人農家に隠れていた家族を皆殺しにされた時に逃れたユダヤ人の女の子が４人のナチス軍のトップを含むナチス大量虐殺の復讐へのチャンスをつかむストーリー。QT映画なのでバイオレンス、惨い惨殺シーン、次に何が起こるのか想像できていながらもドキドキしてしまう会話の駆け引き満載ですが、最後はやはり悪は散るというなんとも単純だけどスッキリして気持ちの良い映画なので観てのお楽しみ。
勿論タランティーノが描いたフィクションなのだが、ヒトラーが撃たれまくって殺されるシーンを観た時は思わず本当の話だったらよかったのにと思ってしまった。
Sacha Baron Cohen, the same comedian who brought you Borat, has managed to make yet another controversial but hilarious movie. When I walked into the movie theater this past weekend, i had no idea what to expect. Sacha brought an over the top comedic performance, playing Bruno, a gay Austrian fashionista who get blacklisted from the Austrian social scene. He comes to America to become “super famous”, but learns its not so easy.
映画”Borat”のサーシャ・バロン・コーエンがまたもや面白くも大問題な作品を発表。先週末この映画を観に行った時は何の期待もしないで行きました。サーシャはブルーノという社交界から追い出されたゲイのオーストラリア人のファッショニスタで、その役を期待以上に演じてました。有名になる目的で彼はアメリカに渡ってきますがそうは簡単にはいかないよう。
I highly recommend this movie, but only if you can take a joke!
この種のジョークについてける方のみおすすめの映画です。

three days in a row we bumped into the film shoot for Steve Carell and Tina Fey’s new comedy “date night” in our neighborhood. during the shoot some random couple trying to move in at the same block had to stop their work so the film crew helped them carry their furniture in the building. lucky them or not..
３日続けてスティーブ・カレル（”40 years old Virgin” “Office”主演のコメディー俳優）とティナ・フェイ主演の新作映画の撮影現場を通りかかりました。途中、このブロックのど真ん中のアパートに引っ越しをするカップルが撮影を中断させて現場の人達に運ぶのを手伝ってもらっていました。ラッキーなんだか。。
